This tiny Fulham courtyard presented a tough challenge to John Davies Landscape. The entire house had been beautifully renovated  but with 20 square metres of outside space that was very badly overlooked and looked out onto the side wall of the adjacent property, there were significant problems to be solved.

We chose phyllostachys bissetti as an evergreen screen which was umbrella pruned so that the stems presented a strong vertical accent against the horizontal mahogany slatwork. A polished steel water wall offers a strong point of focus to distract from the surroundings. The water feature is offset within a tiny space so as not to dominate and an acer palmatum is  placed in front of the wall so that it recedes within a very small space.

Flamed basalt and rendered walls painted in Farrow and Ball Mole’s breath follow the grey tones used throughout the house and help to unify the two so that this courtyard flows out from within the house and genuinely becomes an outdoor room. Urbis planters in stony dolomite white and planted with pittosporum tobira nanum complete this beautiful ensemble.

火烧的玄武岩和粉刷的墙壁，在整个房子里使用灰色色调，并将两者统一起来，让这个庭院仿佛是从房子内部流出，真正成为一间室外的房间。用石质白云石建造的乌比斯花盆，种植着海桐花属植物，完善了这个美丽的整体景观。
